Data on your device
FretUp keeps preferences, progress, exercise results and activity records in the app's private storage. It does not require an account or send this history to our server. There is no automatic sync between devices. Removing the app, clearing data or losing the device may cause loss of history. Local recovery copies are limited and do not replace an external backup.
Microphone and audio
Features such as the tuner request microphone access when you start listening. The signal is processed on your device to analyse notes and tuning; this flow does not send it to our server or save it as an audio recording. You can deny or revoke permission in system settings; features that need it will stop listening. Study sounds are provided with the app and may generate local files for playback.
Reminders and widgets
If enabled, reminders use local notifications and widgets show information from your routine on the device. Permissions can be changed in system settings. These features do not create an account or send your progress to the website.
Update checks
In versions that include this feature, the app checks a public HTTPS file on this website when opened or returning to the foreground. While a notice is displayed, it may check again every minute. The file contains separate rules for Android and iOS; comparison with the installed version happens on your device. We do not send progress, audio, persistent identifiers or account data in this request. The connection shares technical information with the server, such as IP address, date, path and request characteristics.
An outdated version may receive a notice or require an update before continuing while a valid remote rule is active. The operator can disable the configuration. If the check fails or the rule expires, offline access is preserved.
Audio demo on this website
When you choose to hear a reference, your browser downloads a sound file from this website. Playback starts only through your action. The demo does not request microphone access, record answers or create a study profile. File requests may appear in the hosting logs described below.
Website and technical logs
This website does not use ads, analytics, application cookies, forms or third-party resources. Hosting records access for operation and diagnostics, including IP address, date, requested path and request result. Nginx logs rotate daily with up to 14 rotated files; the actual period depends on execution and log volume. They are not used for advertising. Hosting operators may access these logs to maintain the service.
Links and stores
When you open external links, stores and destination websites may process data under their own policies. The App Store and Google Play handle downloads and updates under their terms. FretUp does not access your payment data through these links.
Support and your rights
When you send an email, you share your address and message with support and the providers that deliver and store email. We use this information to reply and investigate your request. Avoid sending passwords or unnecessary personal data. Retention depends on support needs and applicable obligations; we do not promise automatic deletion within a fixed period.
You can request information, access, correction or deletion of data you sent to support through the contact above. Requests are handled based on available data and applicable obligations. Since we do not receive your local progress, we cannot access or restore it remotely.
Changes
Changes to data processing will be reflected on this page and in store disclosures where applicable. This policy describes app behaviour; features may depend on your installed version.
